At least fifty nine people have been killed and one hundred and seventy
five injured in yesterday’s attack on a Nairobi shopping center.
A Kenyan government minister, Joseph Lenku said one thousand people have
managed to escape from Westgate centre after the assault by suspected al-Shabab
militants.
He said between ten to fifteen attackers were still in the building,
adding that it is not known how many civilians remain trapped in the shopping center.
Al-Shabab said it
carried out the attack in response to Kenya’s military involvement in the war
in Somalia.
