JTF Impounds Twenty Boats Used For Stealing Crude Oil




The operatives of the Joint Military Task force,  JTF, code named Operation Polu Shield has arrested eleven notorious oil thieves for sttealing crude oil from Product and Pipeline Marleting Company pipeline along Otokolomabie creek in Rivers State.

The vandals were arrested alongside with three fibers speed boats and three barges used in carrying out the illicit activities in the regional creeks. 

JTF also said eleven illegal refineries were clampdown while 17  open wooden boats used for stealing crude were impounded by operatives of the  command .

Troops of 146 Battalion of Sector 2 of the JTF deployed to Bonny Island intercepted the suspected vandals  along the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) where PPMC and SPDC pipelines were  laid.

JTF in a statement signed by  its media coordinator  and spokesman of the command, Lt Col Onyema Nwachukwu  said youths of Ogala community in Okirika in Rivers state  facilitated the impoundment of a bus used for illegal bunkering activities. 

The  vandals truck, laden with illegally sourced crude oil was reported to JTF land patrols that promptly swung into action and impounded the vehicle.
