Federal Government Cancels Last Saturday's Immigration Examination

The Federal Government has cancelled recruitment by Ministries, Department and Agencies except the Army and Police.

The Minister of Information, Labaran Maku announced this while briefing newsmen after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting which was devoted to the death of nineteen applicants during last Saturday’s recruitment exercise by the Nigerian Immigration Service.

He said the exercise has been cancelled while a committee headed by the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission was directed to conduct a fresh one.

Labaran Maku said President Jonathan also directed that three employment slots should be reserved for each of the families of the dead job-seekers. 

The Minister said all those who sustained injuries and presently receiving treatment in hospitals should be given automatic employment by the Nigeria Immigration Service.
