The Federal Government on Thursday read
a riot act to the Governing Councils of its Universities to stop the alleged
indiscriminate awards of honorary degrees to Nigerians and foreigners alike
without regard to merit and integrity.
The Minister of Education who gave this warning in Abuja reminded
the Governing Councils that Honorary Degrees are not Chieftaincy title affairs.
