Federal Executive Council Fails To Hold Amidst Speculations Of Impending Cabinet Reshuffle

FEC Meeting

The weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council failed to hold on Wednesday despite Vice President Namadi Sambo being in Abuja.

President Goodluck Jonathan had departed for the United Kingdom and France early in the morning on working visits that would keep him out of the country until. February the 11th.

No reasons were given for the failure to hold the cabinet meeting although insider sources said most issues that required attention had been treated in last week's council meeting which stretched late into the evening.

It gave rise to speculations about the reluctance of the President to hold a council meeting until he had tinkered with the cabinet.

The speculations were fueled on Tuesday by the designation of port folios to the two new additions to the Federal Executive Council which saw Professor Chinedu Nebo emerging as the new Minister of Power and Kabiru Turaki assigned to the Ministry of Special duties.

It leaves the position of the Defence Minister glaringly open and reinforces the belief that the President will do a cabinet reshuffle anytime now.
