First Lady Commissions 65o Million Youth Centre In Abuja To Boost Skill Acquisition Among Youths

The FCT administration on Tuesday commissioned a multi purpose Youth Support Center built at a cost of 650million naira to provide skills acquisition for unemployed youths and the handicaps living in the capital territory.

The youth center located in Nyanya, a Satellite town in the FCT was constructed and equipped with modern facilities like printing press, information communications technology, e-library hall, standard multiple workshop, 500 capacity theatre hall, 500 bed space hostel facility, furnished class rooms and international sport facilities.

Commissioning the project, the first lady Dame Patience Jonathan expressed hope that the center if fully utilized would provide the youth with the needed skill for self reliance, social security that would ultimately check youth restiveness, armed robbery, kidnapping, terrorism, thurgery, drug abuse and prostitution.

 In his remarks, the FCT Minister said similar youth center would also be constructed at other local government councils, stating that there was compelling need to address the upsurge of youths  into the capital territory, adding that the center was constructed to inculcate  the value of handwork,etical rectitude, justice and moral discipline among the youths.

Earlier, the secretary in charge of FCT Social Development Secretariat, Blessing Onuh said a committee has been set up to work out strategies for sustaining and maintaining the centre, revealing that the centre was commissioned to provide free training services to the youth

 The Centre was however named after the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan
