Ex-Militants Donates Relief Materials To Flood Victims In Bayelsa.

The Presidential Amnesty office in Abuja has donated two truckload of relief materials including drugs to flood victims in Bayelsa State.

The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs Kingsley Kuku said the items donated were contributions made by ex-militants from the region to assist the flood victims.

Kuku who was represented by Tawari Dotimi of the Amnesty office presented the items to the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor John Jonah at the Peace Park in Yenagoa.

He said the ex-militants sacrificed two thousand naira each from their allowances while other staff of the Amnesty office donated thirty percent of their salary.

The Bayelsa State Deputy Governor John Jonah who received the items from the Amnesty office said the state Flood Management Committee would ensure the judicious use of the items.

Jonah said one of the major challenges faced by the committee is to reachout to the flood victims at the remote villages who are not at the various camps set up by the state government.

The Deputy Governor said the state Flood Management Committee have already started mapping out plans for the post flood era.
