The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi has said he
would not leave office until his tenure expires on June second this year.
President Jonathan had reportedly told the CBN boss to resign for allegedly
leaking the letter he wrote to him to former President Olusegun Obasanjo over
the non-remittance of forty nine billion dollars to the Federation Account.
Lamido Sanusi denied the allegation, saying that the letter could have
been leaked by anybody in the Presidential Villa, the Ministry of Finance and
the CBN.
According to the CBN Governor only two thirds of the Senate can remove
him from office.
Spokesman of the CBN, Ugochukwu Okoroafor said Lamido Sanusi is not
proceeding on a terminal leave in March, adding that he would be retiring on
the second of June.
