The
House of Representatives has invited Service Chiefs to brief it on the current
security situation in the Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states.
This
follows a request by president Goodluck Jonathan to the lawmakers demanding an
extension to the six month emergency rule in the three affected states.
Although
the president attached security report by the military to the House, members
opted to have a closed session with the military chiefs before taking a
decision on the extension .
A
similar request by the President to the Senate was granted last Thursday by the
Upper
House.
The
Service Chiefs, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, are expected to meet with
the Lawmakers in camera on Thursday, 14th November, 2013
