The Vice Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
South-South, Dr Steve Oru has been attacked by unknown gunmen along Agbarho
–Ughelli Express way in Delta State.
It was learnt that Dr Oru was attacked on his back
from Warri to Ughelli, his home town after attending a function on
Saturday.
A close family member who confirmed the incident, said
the PDP chieftain who is presently receiving treatment after sustaining bullet
wounds, is in stable condition in an undisclosed hospital in Benin City, the
Edo State capital.
The Delta
State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Famous Ajieh who confirmed the
incident, said a police orderly, Ofor Joseph attached to Dr Oru was shot dead
and his AK 47 Rifle was taking away by the hoodlums during attack.
The police spokesman said the body of the late police
man has been deposited at Ughelli General Hospital morgue.
