AKWA IBOM GOVT. TO REVIVE SUNSHINE BATTERIES INDUSTRY

Akwa Ibom Government has reiterated its readiness to resuscitate Sunshine Batteries Industry, Ukana in Essien Udim Local Government Area.

The industry established in the early 80s by the then Cross River State Government became ailing before the 90s.

Governor Godswill Akpabio who stated this Sunday at the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Ukana Onuk Ikot Owo in Essien Udim said this was to provide employment opportunities for the teeming youths of the area and the state.

Akpabio remarked ''The State Government will do its best to revive the Sunshine Batteries Industry. We have to work hard to revive it to create employment opportunities for the youths''.

He further restated the resolve of his administration to dualise  Ukana-Abiakpo-Atan Road with a bridge linking Akwa Ibom Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua  to open the area for traffic.

Hammering on the theme of the sermon ''Behold, I am doing a new thing'', the Governor expressed joy that indeed God was doing a new thing in the state with the transformation programmes seen in the various sectors of governance, urging Akwa Ibom people to imbibe sound Chrisitan virtues which includes loving one another.

Chief Akpabio thanked members of the church for their persistent prayers that led to his re-election as a Governor, and pledged to perform better to justify the prayers offered for him.

In his sermon, the Rt. Rev. Edet Otohotoho reading from Isaiah 43:19 said the country was facing insecurity caused by Boko Haram insurgency, which according to him, was a spiritual warfare ad a potent sign of danger.

As a way of curbing the insecurity infraction, Rt. Rev. Otohotoho therefore called on Nigerians to return to God in total repentance for God to heal the land and deliver them from their enemies.
