USA Condemns Election's Postponement

The United States has condemned the postponement of the general elections by the INEC.

Secretary of State John Kerry in a statement said the U.S is deeply disappointed by the decision to postpone Nigeria’s presidential election, which had been scheduled for February fourteen.

He said the international community will be watching closely as the federal government prepares for elections on the newly scheduled dates.

Also, the United Kingdom says the decision by INEC to delay the presidential election because of the security situation was a cause for concern.

British Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond said in a statement that it was vital that the elections were kept on track and held as soon as possible in accordance with international norms.
