A civil society group,
Socio Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has dragged the PDP
and the APC to court for failing to disclose sources of spending on their
respective electoral campaigns and other operations linked to the twenty
fifteen elections.
The suit which was filed
at the Federal High Court in Lagos followed a Freedom of Information request to
the national chairman of both parties last month.
SERAP argued that
Nigerians have the right to know the sources of their campaign funding.
The group said
transparency, accountability, integrity and independence of political parties
are important to achieve greater transparency in public life.
