There was outrage in
Ibadan metropolis today as customers were unable to access many Automated
Teller Machines (ATMs) located in some banks.
The bank customers who had
besieged the ATMs to withdraw cash for the New Year and other necessities as
early as 6.30 were disappointed with a good number of the machines not
functioning.
In some banks,the ATMs
indicated "inoperative" as customers slot their cards into the
machines which made customers to complain bitterly and pour out their angers.
But few of the ATMs
working recorded unprecedented patronage with long queues while the banking
halls of most banks were full to the brim.
The queues disrupted free flow of traffic on major roads where the banks are
situated with security officials having hectic time controlling traffic.
The rush was sequel to the notification banks gave their customers that
they will be closing for the day between 12 and 1 pm.
Banks along Iwo road,Mokola, Challenge and other areas in the ancient city, many
customers spend close to between four and five hours before getting cash in the
banking halls or from the ATMs.
