IG Orders Commissioners To Beef-Up Security Around Police Armouries

The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba has ordered the state Commissioners and Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police to secure arms and ammunition in the force Armouries across the country

A Statement issued by the Force Headquarters said the security alert became imperative to ward off possible attempt by men of the underworld to attack Police stations and other installations.

The Statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Ojukwu also directed all Commissioners of Police to beef up security in and around banks within their jurisdictions and collaborate with bank authorities to secure their premises.

You may wish to know that the IGP had earlier directed an audit of Police Armouries nationwide with a view to securing the Police arms and ammunition.
