Chibok town in Borno state
has been recaptured from Boko Haram militants.
They were driven away in a
joint operation between the military, civilian JTF and local vigilantes.
Spokesman of the Nigerian
Army, General Olajide Olaleye said mopping up operation is ongoing in the town
where over two hundred schoolgirls were abducted in May by the insurgents.
Boko Haram took over the
town on Thursday.
Many
residents say the insurgents still have a presence in the surrounding villages
and so the area is not safe.
