South Africa has
reportedly seized five point seven million dollars cash from an Israeli who claimed
he was on a mission to purchase arms for the Nigerian government.
The seizure came three
weeks after another nine point three million dollars cash was also seized from
two Nigerians and an Israeli meant to purchase arms for Nigeria.
South Africa-based City
Express reported today that the Israeli, Eyal Mesika, had the combination to
open the plastic suitcases containing the cash.
Also found in his
possession was a list of items to be purchased, including helicopters, unmanned
aircrafts, rockets and ammunition.
The
paper reported that the transaction was between Cerberus Risk Solutions, an
arms broker based in Cape Town, and a company based in Abuja.
