SENATORS DEBATE NIGERIA AT 52



 The senate has urged the federal, states and local governments and leaders of Nigeria to work harder to return Nigeria to the path of economic growth, sustain and strengthen national unity.

The Upper Legislative Chamber made the appealed following the adoption of a motion sponsored by Senator Ita Enang and one hundred and seven other lawmakers on Nigeria’s independence anniversary.

The senate also congratulated President Goodlock Jonathan and Nigerians on the 52nd Independence anniversary of Nigeria.

  A cross section of senators who contributed to the debate stressed the need to revive financial autonomy of local government councils in the country and make them function like a third tier of government.
They also called for political will on the part of executive arm of government to make government policies function effectively for the development of Nigeria.
